Speaker credibility has 3 types/2 parts!
Three types of credibility
– Initial Credibility: the credibility the speaker has before the speech begins based on feedback, speakers sheet, show-reel, and your signature talk.
– Derived Credibility: the credibility the speaker gains during the talk based on the speakers’ ability to engage and captivate the audience.
– Terminal credibility: the credibility of the speaker after the speech based on the audience’s feedback and organisers experience of your professionalism.
Two parts of speaker credibility
1. Being known as having credibility as a speaker to an organisation means that you have a reputation as an expert, you have great feedback, you present yourself professionally (inc’s speaker-sheet and show-reel), you have spoken at least one reputable event/name, and you have either published a book or been in the media.
2. Being credible as a speaker means showing your audience you have their best interests at heart, you share their beliefs and values, you share a goal, you are knowledgeable and have personally experienced the subject you are speaking about, you have a solution, and the evidence you use is trustworthy.
